Dr.-Ing. Klaus Castell
Dr. Klaus Castell inherited the firm from Mr. Liermann in 1994 and has been a partner of the firm ever since.
Dr. Castell studied brewing science and beverage technology at the Technical University in Munich. His thesis pertained to business administration. He then worked as a marketing manager’s assistant in a medium-sized brewery. During his scholarship at the Chair for Energy and Environmental Engineering, Dr. Castell had an idea regarding air purification which he sold and which was patented in many industrialized countries. After graduating on the subject of his invention, he trained as a patent attorney.
Dr. Castell’s counseling is shaped by his experience with his own inventions and always includes cost-benefit analysis in addition to legal aspects.
Dr. Castell’s technical specialties lie in environmental and nanotechnology, mechanics and optics, medical engineering and software inventions. Dr. Castell’s most prominent mandates include the case GAT ./. LuK. With this action the European Court of Justice put an end to transnational patent infringement suits.This decision is regarded as a reinforcement of German jurisdiction. Dr. Castell is Chairman of the VDI (The Association of German Engineers) and an associate lecturer at the Aachen Institute of Applied Sciences e.V..
